Naturally beer and cider have a prominent and rightful place in any country inn, and we love our beer in Butterleigh. It has been suggested down the years that Matt, the Landlord, really should get a proper hobby, but beer remains an abiding interest which can happily be shared if you have an hour or two spare!
We are delighted to have been lfeatured in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for 28 consecutive years and are also accredited under the CAMRA Locale scheme, for pubs that stock beers from local brewers. We regularly feature Cotleigh Tawny Bitter from Wiveliscombe, Yellowhammer from Hanlon’s Brewery, at Half Moon, just down the road and Otter beers from near Honiton. We also regularly serve a fourth guest beer, sometimes local, sometimes from further afield for interest.
For a refreshing equally traditional alternative, why not try a glass or two of our Sam’s medium cider from Winkleigh? We have the CAMRA ‘Real Cider Sold Here’ accreditation and serve three traditional ciders - Sam’s, Sandford Orchards ‘Devon Scrumpy’ plus one other.
Our wine list is selected to offer quality and value from both the new and old world and features many favourites by the glass or bottle to compliment your food. We have an extensive range of malt whiskies to sample as a little indulgence at the end of your meal, or just as a warming dram!
